2014 AACC & Miniature Fluidic Devices for POCT

Takasago Fluidic Systems (TFS) will exhibit our valvespumps and other fluidic devices at 2014 AACC Annual Meeting & Clinical Lab Expo held from July 29 to 3in Chicago, IL, U.S.A. Our exhibits will focus on miniature, lightweight, low power consumption and disposable products for POCT (Point of Care Testing). 1Ultra-small Low Power Consumption Diaphragm Valve - SMV Series

This valve is driven by a piece of shape memory alloy, which enables features most suitable for POCT applications i.e. a compact size of 4 x 16 x 16.5 mm, light weight of 4 g, low power consumption of 0.3 W or less, and quiet operation. The internal structure is so simple that the cost can be reduced to a disposable level when it is mass-produced. We will exhibit a prototype of this future valve.

2. Piezoelectric Micro Pump

The Piezoelectric Micro Pump is a small-sized, slim and lightweight pump and possesses the feature of being able to adjust flow rate easily by changing the drive voltage or drive frequency. A cartridge type whose wetted parts are replaceable is also available.

3. Injection-molded PDMS Microfluidic Chips

The production capacity of 100,000 pieces per month has become possible for microfluidic chips used in POCT applications.

 

4. High Quality Coating on the Inside Surface of Probes

In addition to the fine bore polishing, the probes can be supplied with high quality coating not only on the outside surface but also in the inside surface. Three types of coatings are available, gold plating, PTFE coating and fluoropolymer coating. These are expected to prevent proteins from adhering to the surface of probes, and to reduce contamination.
